Last year I took Frank along to this, and I should have done the same this year. But I wussed out and went in the Bora :(

However, I did find lots of VAG family members:

Went to this again today, it's an amazing four day weekend of historic motorsport. I was intending on taking Frank along, get some more kms on his new engine, but the weather bureau said it was going to be 32c today, and windy. Way too warm for Frank to be sitting and getting baked, all day long with no shade. Plus it takes a looooooong time to get out of there as this is a huge event and very crowded. Frank's not a big fan of going very slowly, at walking pace.

So.

We took the Amarok and set up camp to watch the show. And a Volvo parks next to us. An older lady hops out and is sitting nearby. She comes over and asks me about the races, as she'd never been before. So we're chatting away and she wonders why we're there and we explain about the race Golf....and she tells us she's in the midst of restoring a Type 3 fastback! Excellent!

We chat some more and I tell her how I wanted to take Frank along. Would you believe it, she used to have a 76 Passat :) This is not a conversation I have often with people :D Usually I get a mostly confused look or people think all Passats are just the new ones, that ones as old as Frank never existed. It was a good moment.
