A colleague of mine told me about this one; his club runs this as a fundraiser every year. It's a very mellow show, just hanging out in the burbs, raising money for sick kids. And there's just a great mix of cars and marques, as well as lovely people. I took Frank along this year.

Frank was hanging out with some Harleys and a Valiant.

I'm collecting photos for an exhibition to be titled "People staring at Frank in confusion." :D

There were three other Dubs there, all Bugs. This one had undergone a stunning restoration. Gorgeous paintjob.

And a stunning interior too, no idea who did it but they did a beautiful job.

Old school cop car (Holden Commodore) from the early eighties, you may recall from the original Mad Max film :)

This is a German car with an Australian spin on it: the Goggomobile Dart. Back in the fifites Goggo were selling these in Australia, and the Australians were replacing the steel bodies with fibreglass ones. They are quite iconic cars here, mostly thanks to a very well known Yellow Pages ad in the nineties.

This one had undergone a full restoration, due to rust in its floor, probably 10+ years ago. They are tiny cars, and very adorable. I just wanted to stuff it in my pocket.

This is a Holden Torana, another iconic Australian car. Many were raced in major motorsport events, and many are still raced even now.

This is another Holden, the iconic panel van was used (and is still used) as a light commercial vehicle all across Australia. Nice to see these work horses are still loved today.

Quite a few US imports are seen at shows here. Sorry America, we keep on taking your classics. We have a staggering number of classic Mustangs here, for example.

No no Frank, NOT the dart!

:P

I loved the confused looks - reminds me of when I took Theodore to dubs on the hill.

Great photography and lots of nice cars - looks like it was a good day.

Actually, now I'm confused. It's the Piston Shakedown Charity Show, but rotaries were there.

:silly:

Apologies - couldn't help myself...

A right Hand Drive Valiant. I thought I would never see the day. Those are very cool looking cars. Glad to see Frank mixing it up with the rare crew.
Those Holdens are really cool looking cars. They look stout and can take just about any abuse.
That is one great collection of cars. I see you guys down under like gas guzzlers too.

Once upon a time there were many Valiants on our roads, Tony. Super popular family car in the seventies. Seemed to really appeal to Greek and Italian migrants back then.

Yeah Australia's been hooked on V8s for a long, long time, until recent years when more economical engines have taken over the sales. Most of those Holdens are V8s.
