VW Australia held advanced driver training days across Australia in August and September 2010. I was fortunate enough to receive an invitation to attend one day, held at Sandown Racecourse in Springvale. Thanks to the enormous generosity of VW Australia, I got to learn how to handle a car in a skid pan, around objects and also how to handle a car on the track. All for free too, which was utterly extraordinary of them to offer this. I got to drive a Jetta and a brand new Golf GTD, and had a blast doing it. It was an invaluable day and great fun too!

VW brought out the brand new Golf R for us to admire, and took us around the track in them, on hot laps, too! 180kph in the rain = amazing!

Brand new GTIs and GTDs! Thank you so much, Volkswagen! I had a fabulous time!

Next time, can I take Frank around the track?
